Pick an agency and we deliver an OPRA-compliant request straight to the custodian on file. Standard filing is free, and a custodian generally must grant or deny access within seven business days under N.J.S.A. 47:1A-5 — many agencies respond sooner, sometimes the same day.

Which New Jersey agency should I send my OPRA request to?
Send it to the agency that holds the record. Police reports go to the municipal police department where the incident happened; property and permit records go to the town; deeds and land records go to the county clerk; school budgets go to the school district. Is there a fee to use NJ OPRA Portal?
No. Filing an OPRA request through the portal is free. Agencies may charge their own statutory copy fees for certain paper records, but electronic records are usually provided at no cost.
